Sustainability

Every aspect of our internal, product and service business is tasked with maintaining best practice in relation to sustainability.

From a life-long philosophy of local manufacture, to a product and package approach driven by recycling and upgrade. Our aspirations are encompassed on Mission M, our blueprint for sustainability.

Mission M

Mission M is Prolojik’s strategy of continuous improvement to minimise our environmental impact.

Minimise

  • Reducing the size of device wherever possible.
    • Reduce material usage
    • Reduce packaging
    • Reduce transportation
  • Modular design to allow components to be shared between products to reduce inventory and increase flexibility.
  • Product design to reduce power consumption even in passive mode.
  • Rack servers replaced with solid state NUC 350kgCO2e to 50kgCO2e
  • Appropriate packaging.

Materials

  • ABS plastics with 15% regrind
  • Aluminium for scene panels with 90% recycle
  • All packaging minimum made from 80% recycled materials and 20% wood from sustainable sources, which are registered with the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC).
  • LCMs galvanised instead of painted and steel instead of plastics.

Miles

  • We manufacture all lighting control panels, injection mouldings and all electronics within a 80-mile radius of our headquarters in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
  • Prolojik are the first UK lighting control company to be registered with Made in Britain.

Make

  • In-house expertise for mechanical, electronic and software development
  • Local diverse supply chain
  • Best-in-class components
  • Never load our supply chain to more than 30% of capacity
  • Materials and electronic compliance testing within UK.

Maintain

  • Electronic components have an expected life of 10 years
  • We have sites still fully operational at 20 years
  • We start a planned and sustainable upgrade conversation at year 7
  • We support customers to limit commercial and technical exposure
    • Provide a modular upgrade path
    • Reuse existing cabling and containment
  • Technology updates and energy audits

Migrate

  • Support the beyond life-cycle of a product
  • Help the product migrate to the next generation
  • Modular designs to allow easy upgrade path
  • Smart ready sensors with interchangeable heads
  • Bluetooth mesh sensors with upgradeable heads

Embodied Carbon

Operational Carbon Impact diagram

We are acutely aware of the impact that our products and services have on the environment. We have assessed both the embodied and operational carbon impact of our works and work aggressively to mitigate them.

We have calculated the embodied carbon within our product offerings and continues to work to reduce the ongoing impact through better design and manufacture and delivery.

The typical carbon impact of a lighting control module is illustrated.

The typical carbon impact of a smart sensor is illustrated.
