Prolojik’s lighting control system meets the challenge of restricted installation space.

Government Building, Croydon

Prolojik has supplied its Networked DALI lighting control system to a government building in South London’s newest business, residential and leisure quarter in Croydon.

The system, designed and manufactured in the UK by Prolojik, has been installed throughout the office space. In this lighting control product, one of three designed by Prolojik, a DIN rail mounted DALI controller provides full control of 64 DALI devices per channel. It supports broadcast, group and individual DALI addressing, and offers control of ballasts, LED drivers, emergency inverters and sensors. It is designed for exposed soffit installations, or where void access or installation space is restricted, as in this case.

The system was recommended to the specifiers Arup by M&E contractors Phoenix because Prolojik was able to supply equipment small enough to fit into the distribution boards. Having been successful in a competitive tender process, it then supplied all the parts direct to the panel manufacturer for off-site pre-fabrication. Prolojik’s in-house engineers worked closely with the panel manufacturer to ensure all the right modules were in the right panel, labeled by riser and floor. By going through this process off-site, it allowed for very quick and easy installation once on-site, providing a solution to the challenges posed by the reduced space and smaller distribution boards.

“We have undertaken a number of similar projects using our Networked DALI system in the past but none that have required such integrated working with the panel manufacturer and precise integration with the modular wiring,” commented Mark Vincent, Prolojik’s Commercial Director. “With all off-site pre-fab it’s important to get the detail spot-on. The time we all spent getting the distribution boards exactly right prior to installation really did pay off as it saved a huge amount of time on site and allowed for a seamless first fix.”
