Project 60 Holborn Viaduct

Project 60 Holborn Viaduct stands as a beacon of modern architectural innovation while honouring its rich historical legacy. Originally opened in 1869, the iconic Holborn Viaduct has long served as a key transport artery in London. Today, the redevelopment of this significant site represents a bold vision for the future—transforming the area into a vibrant, mixed-use space that seamlessly blends contemporary design with its storied past.

Crafted by the world-renowned architects KPF, the building exemplifies cutting-edge design and functionality, while its architectural elements are thoughtfully integrated to respect the historic context of the surrounding viaduct. The redevelopment has focused on several core objectives: modernising infrastructure, enhancing public spaces, introducing new residential units, improving accessibility, and promoting sustainability, all while preserving the unique heritage of the site and creating fresh opportunities for commercial use.

We are proud to have worked with FES Ltd, Sweco, and AXA Real Estate on this project. We worked on new shell and core and CAT A implementation across 11 floors and supplied Modular and Plexus lighting control systems, with PS432 multi-sensors, PN440 LON area controllers, PV110 head end PC and Perspective software and associated commissioning.

Notably, the building achieved a BREEAM “Excellent” rating, underscoring its commitment to sustainability. The energy-efficient office spaces, combined with Prolojik’s advanced lighting control systems, play a central role in minimising energy consumption, improving indoor air quality, and optimising lighting and thermal comfort. These systems contribute to a healthier, more productive environment for occupants, elevating both the building’s energy efficiency and its aesthetic appeal.

We are excited to be involved in the early stages of a new development at Holborn Viaduct, Farringdon Street. For this project we will work on new shell & core across 17 floors, with the integration of Plexus systems including PS432 multi-sensors, PC734 switch interfaces, PN740 BACnet gateway, PN541 IP area controllers, PV555 head-end PC, and Perspective graphical software with MQTT smart integration. We are delighted to be working with Dornan Engineering, Multiplex Construction, Hilson Moran and Royal London Asset Management.

Prolojik supported Hilson Moran during the specification and design phase of the project, with subsequent collaboration with Dornan Engineering with regards to the planned installation and commissioning works. Mark Simms MIET, Project Director from Dornan Engineering noted, “So far, the Prolojik team has been proactive, efficient, and fully compliant throughout the tender process, working closely with us to ensure a smooth workflow”.

Project 60 Holborn Viaduct is a great example of how to create more attractive and functional urban environment that meets the needs of residents, businesses, and visitors alike. This redevelopment not only breathes new life into a historic part of London, but it also addresses contemporary urban challenges, setting the stage for a more sustainable and dynamic future. We look forward to progressing on the early stages of project Holborn Viaduct, Farringdon Street, and contributing to the ongoing revitalisation of this vibrant area.
