Project Sky Ripple

Nestled in the vibrant heart of West London, Sky Studios stands as a testament to modern architectural innovation and design. This facility has undergone a significant transformation to house advanced recording, post-production, and transmission capabilities for Sky’s broadcast and sports news divisions. With features such as ventilated offices, free-cooled data rooms, and eight state-of-the-art studios, Sky Studios exemplifies Sky UK’s ambitious “Believe in Better” vision. This extensive redevelopment consolidates operations across the entire campus, fostering a dynamic mixed-use environment that integrates office spaces, studios, production facilities, and research and development zones.

Project Sky Ripple builds on a long-standing partnership with Sky that dates back to 2015. This collaboration began with the Sky “Believe In Better” building, including facilities such as Sky Health & Fitness, Sky Labs, and the ground breaking Sky Central building. Notably, Sky Central is one of Europe’s largest timber-constructed buildings, designed to maximise natural light and promote well-being. The structure features a 100-meter central street that connects 18 neighbourhoods, including the Sky News Studio and a 200-seat 4K Sky Cinema.

Originally, our project was called Sky Labs, involving approximately 3,000 lights across five levels, alongside the integration of the Plexus system, Prolojik PS432, DALI multi-sensors, PC731 (now the PC734) DALI switch interfaces, and KNX scene-setting plates. In collaboration with MEP consultant Arup and electrical contractor REL Electrical, we aimed to create an environment that enhances efficiency and occupant comfort. On the back of this completion, we carried out Project Sky Ripple, a smaller fit-out that modified three levels while retaining and reusing the existing Prolojik Plexus system. We also implemented scene plates, switches, and multi-sensors for enhanced control. We worked with ARUP and Rydan Services on this projects. These projects have enhanced efficiency, minimised energy consumption, and maximised occupant comfort through features like low glare and optimised colour temperature tailored to human biodynamic needs.
